Joseph (Joe) Kurtzer is head of Client Experience for Fidelity Institutional (FI), a division of Fidelity Investments which offers clearing, custody, investment products, brokerage and trading services to a wide range of financial intermediary firms. He is responsible for overseeing the strategy and implementation of the end-to-end service experience for FI's client-facing businesses that serve the clearing and custody market, including banks and broker dealers, registered investment advisors, professional asset managers, family offices and retirement advisors and administrators. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing and other financial products and services to more than 26 million individuals, institutions and financial intermediaries.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Kurtzer was senior vice president, Client Experience, where he was responsible for overseeing the service strategy for custody clients within Fidelity Clearing & Custody Solutions, including client management, technology services, implementation, technology deployment and training.
Joe joined Fidelity in 1995 as director of Finance for Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company (FILI). Until 2005, he served in various roles within FILI, including vice president and treasurer, senior vice president of Client Services - Annuity Operations, and senior vice president and chief financial officer of Finance and Planning. Following his tenure with FILI, from 2010 to 2017, Joe served as the business lead for a cross-company effort to redesign the service model delivered to registered investment advisor clients.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Joe was a senior manager at Deloitte & Touche, LLP for 10 years, servicing large public companies. He earned his bachelor of science in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, from Bryant University. Joe holds several professional licenses, including a FINRA Series 7 and 24 and his CFP® certification. Mr. Kurtzer is also a certified public accountant (CPA).
